Nourish Project

5 Neighbourhood Houses partner to Nourish the Community during COVID-19.

Pilot project to rescue surplus food and provide free, nutritious meals for people doing it tough. The project is a coordinated and collaborative Neighbourhood House response to food insecurity in Maribyrnong.

Meals are prepared at Yarraville Community Centre kitchen by qualified staff and distributed by Angliss Neighbourhood House, Duke Street Community House, Braybrook and Maidstone Neighbourhood House Yarraville Comunity Centre and West Footscray Neighbourhood House.

Anyone requiring meals, please contact Braybrook and Maidstone Neighbourhood House to arrange pick up on 9317 5610

Healthy living sessions:
Life Program-
30 minute sessions run by expert health professionals that will support and encourage you.
The next sessions for the year are 21st of November 2022 and the 5th of December 2022 
at 1:00 PM.

The Life Program will help:
– increase physical activity
– Improve healthy eating habits
– Increase energy levels
– Reduce stress levels and promote stress management.

Come over between 10am – 2pm Monday and Tuesday  to use the computers and Tablets. Support for internet, mobiles and tablets or filling out applications ect.

BMNH Playgroup Free

Playgroup will recommence: Term 4 on the 3rd of October 2022 until 5th of December 2022.
Come along, join the BMNH Playgroup, and connect with other mothers in your Neighbourhood. Share a light snack for the children and friendship for the Mum’s. Activities for the young ones will be provided.

PLAYGROUP SUPPORTED BY A FACILITATOR Guest speakers attend throughout the year.
Coming up:
Children will be creating a vegetable garden and making a scarecrow.
Playgroup Every Monday, school terms only 10.00 am – 12.00 pm Terms 4. 

BASIC COMPUTER AND SMARTPHONE TRAINING. Free

Monday between 10 am and 2 pm. Ring for basic support with mobile phones, Tablets and PCs. If your needing support or have any questions solved regarding smartphones or the internet, or QR codes and Vaccination status uploaded onto your phones, our tutor can guide you through your questions and concerns members will be supported by Zoom if restrictions apply or one on one at House.

BE CONNECTED PROGRAM Free

Monday’s school terms only. These workshops are to help older people thrive in a digital world. Discover how being online can add new skills and experiences to your life. Learn the basics of getting online. Build your confidence in using digital technology. Ring between 10am and 2pm to get connected. Online support is available. Tuesday

EMERGENCY RELIEF PROGRAM

This program is to support anyone on low income, or experiencing hardship. Each week we receive Fruit, Vegetables and Pantry and dairy goods. This program runs every Tuesday through out the year except for Cup Day and Christmas closure. We also have frozen meals for pick up every Tuesday between 12pm and 3pm. Please ring office to make an appointment or if needing more information on 9317 5610. This is a bookings only program.

Tuesday’s at The Braybrook and Maidstone Neighbourhood House are dedicated to providing the families from our local communities with much needed food relief. We’d like to give a special mention to StreetSmart Australia, who have provided us with a grant that means we can keep doing what we do. Helping out those in the community who do it tough.

Community BBQ – 
8th, 22nd and 29th of November next community BBQ from 12:00PM – 2:00PM.

Basic computer and smart phone training. Free

Tuesday 10am – 2pm. ring for advice on your smart phones, Tablets and any internet concerns. We also give one on one training.

Wednesday

Mosaic and craft workshops

Learn how to make a mosaic working with colourful tiles to make a  piece of art. Every Wednesday.

School Terms Only 10am – 12pm Cost $3

Term 3: Commencing July 11th until December 7th 2022.

Cooking Classes

This Class is on hold till further notice due to distancing rules.

Free bread hampers donated by Bakers Delight Sunshine between 9am and 3pm.

TUESDAY

Emergency relief program; Fruit and Vegetable boxes, pantry goods and dairy products donated by SecondBite, Store House, Save the Food, Tony Water 2 All and frozen meals from The Nourish program. Anyone experiencing hardship can apply. For appointments and bookings, please ring 9317 5610. Pick up is between 12.30 to 3.30pm

Community BBQ

TUESDAY 8th, 22nd & 29th 12 pm-2pm

Call in for a BBQ lunch to celebrate the re commencement of some activities. We will be looking forward to seeing all our Community connecting once again.

Room hire

We have an activity room for hire to suit meetings, workshops and social groups etc. The room is available for casual or ongoing bookings.

Rates are affordable.

Trading table

Bring along your unwanted goods and donate to the trading table. Goods must be in good condition. 

All proceeds go to the BMNH for the purchase of materials for classes, this keeps the cost of classes down.
